POWDERCHAMP AC: Tips and tricks

Drying of the powder with Silica-gel
Sieving of the powder
  • POWDERCHAMP AC suggests using care in preparing the powder. The delivered powder should be kept in a special container with a mixture of Silica-gel balls in order to reduce absorption of moisture and to keep the powder dry.
  • Recommended are sieves, which are used in paint workshops. Ideal is110micron. It is advisable to screen the powder before use. The storage of the dried and screened powder should take place in a container with silica gel.
  • The powder container should be filled with an amount of powder that is one cm high.
  • Prepare yourself for the optical impression. The second powder container should carry the retro canula in a downward or upward position, as soon as a deep distal box preparation in the mandibular or maxilla is made.
  • Use CEREC liquid for better results. A thin layer and adjacent drying improves the adhesion of the powder. CEREC-liquid is a watery solution, which contains polyethylenglucol. CEREC-liquid must be carefully blown dry.
  • Start powdering peripheral from the preparation, e.g. first the buccal surface then the palatinal surface of the adjacent teeth. Move towards the preparation and powder the outer surfaces. Try now to reach the walls of the box preparation in an angle of 45°. Only towards the end you should powder the bottom of preparation and the bottom of the box preparation.
  • As a right-handed person turn the canula with the left hand so that the powder container be held vertically.
  • Use the large suction canula in order to absorb excessive powder.
  • Use a second haemostatic thread or an electrotom/laser/expasyl to display the prep margin.
  • Rather use more powder than less. Too little powder application gives a granular appearance on the preparation margin and poorly powdered areas cannot be correctly measured three-dimensional. If areas (also occlusal edges) appear to be powered too strong, you can check these areas with a probe. Eventually this process has to be repeated, since margin spaces could appear in the restoration. If the test is ok, then retain the taken picture.
